“Environmental problem is one of the most prevailing problems arises in line with country development. As the country becomes more developed, environmental problems and pollution as well become more prevalent. Thailand, among these counties, is facing the same problem.” This is the royal speech given by His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej on 4 July 2002.
Since his succession to the throne in 1950, His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej has continually dedicated exemplary and eminent contributions to the improvement of the environment and nature conservation with a number of royal projects to preserve environment and natural resources ranging from water, soil to forestry. These royal projects are results of His Majesty the King’s intelligence and application of theories to identify most suitable approach to improve the welfare of Thai people and preserve the ecosystem for sustainable development of Thailand.
On the occasion of His Majesty the King’s 84th birthday in 2011, in gratitude of the King’s compassion to Thai people, Koh Talu Island Resort, with its continual and genuine commitment to safeguard the environment, will launch “Coral Plantation Project in Honor of His Majesty the King” among several of its environment projects which include “The Management of Fisheries Resources Project by Bangsaphan Community”, "Vinythai Cooperation to Plant 80,000 Branches of Coral in honor of His Majesty the King" and “Cooperatives for Bang Saphan Eco-tourism”.

Target Groups:
1. Thai tourists with an age between 25 – 40 years old

Location:
The project will be implemented in the front area of Tian Bay, Koh Talu Bang Saphan Noi District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province and will occupy the total of 8,400 square meters. The project is located in the area of “Fishery Resources Management Project by Bang Saphan Community” and the royal project “Plant Genetic Preservation by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn”.
Apart from its strategic location beneficial to the project’s environment preservation activities, from past experiences in a number of coral plantation activities, it was found that Koh Talu area offers water current and temperature most suitable for coral growing condition which make it one of the ideal spots in Thai Bay which coral can grow at its fastest rate. Therefore, coral plantation project implemented in Koh Talu area can be expected to yield evident results in bringing natural fertility to nearby coastal area. One positive sign was reported with sea turtles laying eggs ashore in Koh Talu area for 11 times in 2011 after 10 years absence of such behavior around southern part of Thailand’s central region.
